Here's a sampling of the helpful tips you'll get in the New Hampshire guide:
- As a colony, New Hampshire had several border disputes with neighboring New York and Massachusetts, as well as what would become Vermont. The Crown firmly established the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border in 1740.
- Towns, not counties, record vital statistics in the Granite State, and have done so from the colony's earliest days. They've sent copies of vital records to the state government since 1905.
- New Hampshire's first newspaper, the New Hampshire Gazette, began publishing in 1756. In 2022, the state became the 50th to join the National Digital Newspaper Program; as a result, Granite State titles are being added to the free Chronicling America website.
